Bamboo Greenhouse technology comes to Jamaica
With the high cost of imported raw materials driving up the cost to build greenhouses it was thought
to use a locally found “green” material, bamboo, to replace the steel and wood in the construction
of greenhouses. Hence this project set out to find the feasibility and possibility of building
greenhouses with locally sourced bamboo. Two prototype greenhouses were built, a 50 ft x 16 ft one
at Caymanas and a 100ft x 16 ft one in Mocho in that order.
